Folk Art Potter
About Me
I have been working with Clay for over ten years and keeping a fresh eye to traditional patterns and shapes has been what keeps me fascinated with clay. I love decorating and find it very exciting to merge and make multi cultural patterns and find new ways of expressing them. In my work, you will see the influence of Folk patterns such as the New England blue ware, Dutch, Mexican and Turkish style decoration. However the way I often work is I am inspired and informed by those styles and traditions but as soon as my brush presses against the pot it will often take its own pattern. My shapes are often simple, bowls, vases, plates, mugs and tiles. I wheel throw all my pots and do slab work to make my tiles. My work is high fired stoneware and decorated with cobalt blue slip and iron slips which is basically a colored clay. I like working in a shared studio because of the creative stimulus it creates here in Western New York.
All my work is dishwasher and food safe.
